Phones are too thin. Why do they have to be so thin? The screens are wide as hell now but they keep getting thinner. There’s no room for the battery and its the most crucial component. Who the hell is telling these manufacturers to keep making phones thinner?

I have a proposal for when we figure out who that fucker is. First, we make them read 100 articles a day on minimum brightness in direct sunlight. Then we gather all our extra chargers, cables, & extended battery cases and just crush them to death with all the extra shit they force us to carry around.

The fact that there’s an industry dedicated to fixing a problem with your product should tell you what to adjust next time you go about designing it.

Damn it, I want a IBM Thinkpad phone with titanium body, magnesium frame, waterproof phone, intergrated water drains, and 200 page long service manuals to boot. And every part needs to be user replaceable without voiding the warranty, damnit. I WANT DURABILITY

This is why I like the earlier iPhones and the 6 SE. Granted the battery life is shit but I like the hand feel a lot better, I think having a big phone is just stupid. We spent years trying to downsize phones only to turn them into phablets again.

I have a Samsung S6 Edge. Great looking phone and it’s seriously fast. Who needs 3 GB of DDR4 in a phone? No idea. But that makes me happy. The AMOLED display is really crisp and very legible, even in direct sunlight (with the brightness all the way up of course). But the main issue is that the battery life is abysmal. This is what they advertise. Yep.

Kinja'd!!!

They say you get that from 10 minutes of their fast charge. Which is stupid. I’ve never gotten nearly that much. Also, the people who say their battery will last a day of heavy use are idiots. They either don’t know what heavy use is, or I really want to know their secrets.

My iPhone 6+ battery was, to me, exceptional. Until I started playing Pokemon Go and CSR 2 simultaneously.

Now I need a battery pack on me at all times. So much for the “big phone big battery” deal.

Then we need the phone to inject IVs of steroids and caffeine every so often.

I was originally skeptical of the size of my iPhone 6S, but after just an hour of using it, it was fine. The thinness of it doesn’t bother me at all. What I hate is how damn slippery it is without a case. I’ve never broken a phone and probably dropped each of my previous iPhones once or twice each. But I didn’t think the 6S was going to last 24 hours. I rushed out to Walgreens and bought the cheapest case they had, which is probably the best case I’ve ever had for a phone. It’s lasted almost a year now. Thankfully, the 7 is out in about a month, so I just have to keep it in one piece until then. Though I’m sure it’ll be even more droppable.

I think the first HTC One is about the perfect thickness. My S7 Edge is pretty good with a cheap rubber case on it, though.

Well you just picked the wrong phone. My Sony Xperia Z3 Compact is good for a solid 2 days of normal usage. Easily a full day of google maps, screen on 50% of the time; heavier usage. But since I also like to go on week long camping trips, I have a 20,000 mAh battery pack that I have tested to do 4 full recharges (0 to 100) and still have around 40% battery life left. Either way, I never need the bulky battery pack in normal usage. Much better than a lot of the other phones out there that barely last a day while conserving the battery. I just leave mine full brightness and never turn anything off.

I want a phone that is .5MM’s thick that has a battery life of 9 days with 80GB of RAM and a Octocore processor with a 5.3" screen with a Ultra 4k screen. None of those.. No buy.

I’ve been waiting for this thing to drop! I have Verizon so I might have to wait a little longer for it to become available. Verizon so very picky about what phones they let on their network. They did let the CAT 560c on though! CANT HARDLY WAIT FOR THE THICKNESS.

You’re dead on. Manufacturers think we want thin, but we want battery life. Fools.
